Storage Mistakes You MUST Avoid
Here at Albuquerque Self Storage we have seen thousands and thousands of individuals move in and out of storage units during out decades in business. We have seen a lot of people who are very good at moving and packing, and a lot of people who are, unfortunately… not so good. Lucky for you, we are always their learning. By now we know more about the process of moving in and out of storage unit than almost anyone else. In today’s blog we are going to share just a little bit of that knowledge with you!
- Moving Solo
Mistake number one is attempting to move solo. We have seen it happen more time than we can count. Overly polite individuals do not want to ask too much of their friends and family, so they try to move all on their own. This just isn’t possible. How can you move a 600 pound refrigerator on your own?! In fact, even trying to could be dangerous. Ask you friends and family to help. We are willing to be they would be happy to lend a hand, so long as you promise pizza and beer afterwards.
- Not Planning Transportation
This mistake will end you move before it can even get going. You are not going to be able to move an entire apartment’s worth of furniture using just your Toyota Carola. Rent a U-Haul or a truck make things easier on everyone. If you can pack up everything in one trip, the move is going to go much easier. Besides, it really isn’t safe to drive with a couch strapped to the top of your four-door sedan.
- Boxes Boxes Boxes
Makes sure you have enough boxes. If you run out, moving day could come to an early end. Don’t start trying to improvise either by packing items in other containers. You could end up wasting time and even damaging your possessions.
