Storing Items for the Summer

Unfortunately, the items we do not have room for our in our homes are not able to escape the scorching, and damaging heat. As summer quickly approaches, take a few steps to ensure your stored items will survive the season with no damages.
Insulate
If you have plenty of attic or garage space you want to make use of install some insulation to block the transfer of heat, and retain cooler temperatures. Allowing heat to permeate these extensions of your home can lead to melted plastics, yellowed paper, and other brittle and discolored items. Insulation can also help families save money on energy and electricity during the summer!
Don’t Store Risky Items
Some items are just too delicate or perishable to store away anywhere but your house. Paper goods and keepsakes like photographs, scrapbooks, and other collectables will always need a cooler, regulated environment to stay in neat condition. Wood and leather products may seem like safe items to store in your attic or garage, but if any moisture gets into these areas it can rot and destroy these items integrity easily.
Storage
Try to avoid using cardboard boxes for packing away personal belongings at all costs. Not only are they biodegradable, but they are poor protectors against the elements of summer heat. Plastic bins with fitted lids work much more effectively. Of course, if you run out of room in your attic or garage you can always stop by Albuquerque Storage and inquire about our climate controlled units, perfect for protecting your belongings during the summer.
