10 Bizarre Things Found in Storage Units (Part 1)
If you’re like most people, you’ve probably only stored things like furniture, clothes, and other old or season items in your unit. However, as shows such as Auction Hunters and Storage Wars become increasingly popular, we’ve been finding more and more bizarre things found in storage units! With that in mind, we wanted to share with you what were 10 of the most interesting things found in storage units, for better or worse.
- Piles of paper: While coming across a stack of papers in a storage unit doesn’t sound like the most exciting find, a collection of papers found in 2012 belonged to none other than Malcolm X. The papers consisted of things like personal letters and anecdotes, and was estimated to be worth around $450,000.
- An actual leg: We aren’t kidding about this one! A human leg was found inside a storage unit after it had been won in an auction in 2007. In fact, the leg had been stored inside a large meat smoker. Believe it or not, the original owner of the locker was tracked down and confronted about the situation. When asked, he claimed that he had lost the leg in a plane crash, and saved the leg so he could be buried with it once he passed away.
- Comic books: It’s a well-known fact that comic books can be sold for hundreds, if not thousands of dollars. However, one book in particular, Action Comics #1, which was valued at more than one million dollars was actually stolen from Nicholas Cage back in 2000! Sometime that year, Cage had filed a police report that claimed someone had broken into his house and stolen his rare comic book. Oddly enough, the comic was found in an abandoned storage unit, and was sold back to the original comic book store that Cage had bought his original copy. Luckily, Cage was reunited with his beloved Action Comics #1.
