Spring Cleaning… Your Storage Unit?
Sorta. Welcome back to the Albuquerque Self Storage blog. It’s March! That means Spring is fully here and with it comes that most time-honored tradition – Spring Cleaning. Now, wait, I know what you’re already thinking. ‘But Blog, it’s a storage unit! I just store stuff there, why should I clean it!’ Fair question astute audience but let me lay it out for you. There are two ways to look at Spring Cleaning and Storage Units (both of which we’ll cover.) You can think of it like cleaning your storage unit, what this post is about, or you could think about how to use your storage unit for Spring cleaning at home. We’ll tackle that one next time. So for now, cleaning your storage unit? Yes!
Perhaps you left your unit locked up all winter, not needing to pay it a visit. Well, as the seasons change it would be a good idea to go check out the unit and make sure everything is in tip top shape, here’s why: winter sees storms. If your area has experienced a particularly bad one, it’s possible to damage has befallen the unit, perhaps just an over-abundance of moisture which can still wreak havoc on your belongings. Another? Winter also means cold weather which causes animals to seek out warm homes. Previously on the blogs we have talked about inspecting your unit to ensure there are no unwelcome critters making homes of your things, well now is one of those times.
With both these circumstances, avoidance would be a bad policy. The moisture could cause further damage, turning to mold or allowing worse to grow and animals making a happy home of your old couch will quickly dash all hopes of getting that back in excellent condition. So maybe it is worth it to give your unit a cleaning, after all, huh? Nothing too strenuous of course, just give it an inspection, sweep, and dusting and you’re unit will be taken care of. Now with that out of the way maybe it is time to tackle the house… Next time on the Albuquerque Self Storage blog.
