Refresh Your Workspace This Fall With These Home Office Redecorating Ideas

home office redecorating

With fall right around the corner, you may have already started celebrating the season with all things pumpkin, cozy sweaters, and the reintroduction of your seasonal decor. The dropping temperatures and falling leaves might also have you catching feelings of reorganizing and making a cozier, home workspace. Whether you plan on changing up the space by spicing it up with fall decor or by completely reorganizing it to start fresh for the season, we at Albuquerque Self Storage are here to help.

Add Pumpkins to Spice Up Your Space

If you find that you are in a creative rut or you are just craving change, now is the perfect time to usher out summer and welcome in fall (and renewed creativity) by changing your office decor.

Cute decor and fall go hand-in-hand. Every store becomes filled with adorable wall hangings, baskets, and an endless variety of pumpkins intended to bring out your inner interior designer and make your home Instagram worthy.

As we all know, buying new decor can be time consuming and expensive. When done right, redecorating doesn’t have to be either! Here are a few ways to transform your workspace without breaking the bank.

Nothing screams fall more than pumpkins. Whether they are used as decoration or consumed in a beverage or baked goods, pumpkins universally represent the season. Mini pumpkins are a great way to bring a touch of fall to your home. As a bonus, they’re rather inexpensive and extremely versatile.

Mini pumpkins can come in a variety of colors, white, spotted, orange, green, and have a long shelf life (two to three months). You can decorate them, paint them (or have your kids paint them) with spiders, ghosts, or glitter, or just display them among autumn leaves and candles.

If you don’t want to replace your pumpkins each year, another great option is to buy plastic ones from your local craft store. These types of pumpkins are great as they are undetectable from the real thing, and can be reused.

Switch Out Your Centerpieces

Another simple way to redecorate your home office space is by switching out your centerpieces. If you have a centerpiece that is neutral and used all year round, now is the perfect time to switch it out for something more festive. You can create a tasteful and expensive looking centerpiece on a budget using pumpkins, plastic leaves, and a string of lights. If you have a favorite fall candle consider adding that to your centerpiece too.

If you are going for a more rustic or farmhouse look, consider adding a small chalkboard to write inspirational quotes or lanterns decorated with acorns, leaves, and white flowers.

You might also consider taking an old wooden crate, or buying one at your local craft store and painting it white. You can fill this crate with any festive fall decorations — leaves, candles, lights, or anything else you have already laying around the house.

A quick tip, purchase your fall decorations at the end of the season to save money! While you may not have a premium selection, the prices will make up for it. Chances are too, these items will come back in stock next fall too! If you have a place to store these decorations and know that your decorating taste will stay the same, this is an easy way to save money.

Reorganize and Update Your Bookshelves

If your bookshelves are collecting cobwebs, it’s time to dust them off. Sure, cobwebs are great for Halloween, but they’re not the most appealing fall decor.

A simple and easy way to get your house ready for fall is switching out the decorations on your bookshelf with something more seasonal — maybe sunflowers or pansies? Reorganizing your bookshelves also allows you to replace older items and get rid of clutter. When reorganizing your home office decor, remember less is more.

If you want to personalize your bookshelves, consider adding family photos showcasing your favorite fall memories. Adding a letter board allows you to get creative and switch up your office environment, no matter the season. This is a great option if you don’t want to buy customized wood decor that is only appropriate for a couple of months out of the year.

Last Things You Really Autumn Know…

Redecorating your home office space to look modern, trendy, and classy shouldn’t be synonymous with breaking the bank. Being selective about what you purchase and clever enough to buy items that you can get multiple uses out of, is the way to make the most out of your budget and time. When purchasing autumn decor, try selecting the main items that can be displayed in your office year-round. When different seasons roll around, switch out small items (pumpkins, leaves, etc.) for other seasonal items (easter eggs, spring flowers, etc.).

If you find yourself with boxes of items sitting around your office or are looking to acquire more closet space, give us a call at 505-431-6747 and let us store them for you.
