Choosing the Right Mover
At Albuquerque Self-Storage, we offer more than just space. We are natural guardians, defenders of belongings, protectors of possessions. Once your belongings reach us, they will remain safe and secure. However, in transit they are vulnerable. Choosing the wrong moving company is the surest way to sink a moving operation. Below are a few tips to prevent that from happening.
Do your Homework
One of the advantages of moving in the 21st century is the vast amount of information available on the internet. Most moving companies have a Facebook, a Yelp, or a website available with a plethora of information available. Often, these hubs will offer customer reviews. Avoid any company with a multitude of negative reviews. A few is ok, because they may have been left by a competitor or an anomaly. But, if you notice a pattern of negative reviews than you should avoid that company like the bubonic plague.
Moving Insurance
Any legitimate moving company operating with a license will offer insurance. If you are transiting across state lines then you are required to secure some type of insurance. Two types are available: Full Value Protection and Released Value. Released Value requires no additional charge, and will pay out sixty centers per pound of any item that is damaged or lost in transit. Full Value Protection cost extra, but it stipulates that the mover will be responsible for the full value of items damaged or lost. Choosing the right insurance is not a black and white decision. You need to use your critical thinking skills. If you are moving priceless china from Normandy and a dresser that Charleston Hesston once owned, then you probably need to go with full value. If you are moving an entertainment unit from IKEA, then Released Value should suffice.
