Organizing for a Move

Moving is a massive undertaking. Problems jump out at you left and right. It seems impossible that you are going to be able to fit the entire contents of your home into one moving truck. And how to you even get said items into the truck? By lifting them? One by one? On your own?! That doesn’t seem viable. The important thing is to take these problems one at a time.

First, let’s talk about organization.
Proper organization can end up saving movers hours and hours in the long run. When you are packing up your house it is important to keep everything in its right place. Start by boxing small items. Go room by room. Once your box full seal it up securely. Now here comes the important part – LABEL THAT BOX. Write down the room it came from, the room it is going to, and a brief description of the contents. Sharpies are invaluable here. Good labeling helps the unpacking process as well. You won’t bee wandering around with boxes wondering where to put them. Kitchen boxes go to the kitchen, Little Timmy’s boxes go to Little Timmy’s room. It is as simple as that. If you are make use of professional movers this helps to guide them as well.

Second, Get boxes into the moving truck first.

Their uniform shape makes them easy to pack. Boxes also use the space of the moving truck efficiently. Once they are all safe and secure you will see exactly how much room is left all of your bulk furniture items.

Last, Pack Furniture.

Getting that furniture into the truck is going to be the most difficult part of this process. Round up some friends and family and get them to help. Heavy items take teamwork and coordination. If you have a dolly laying around that can help save a lot of effort.
Well there you go. Your moving truck is all packed and well organized. Good luck with the rest of your move!
