But make sure you are staying safe! Moving during the winter poses a unique set of safety concerns such as hypothermia or slipping on ice. Not only could your hurt yourself, you could end up damaging your furniture! Today’s topic is a little different though. We are going to discuss steps you should take to prepare you home for winter.

Reseal Windows and Doors

It is going to be a very chilly winter, which means you are probably going to want to crank up the heat. If your windows and doors are improperly sealed, all that warm air you are paying an arm and a leg for is going to go seeping out through small cracks and gaps in your insulation. Consider installing weather stripping or applying caulking to areas with deficient insulation. Not only will this help you stay warm, but you will start saving money too! Talk about a win-win.

Schedule and Inspection for Your Furnace and Fireplace

When the temperature drops and it is snowing outside there is nothing better than cranking up the furnace or curling up around the fireplace. However, before you start a roaring fire, it is important that you schedule and inspection for your fireplace. It is sat dormant for several months, so you want to make sure everything is in perfect shape before you set any wood ablaze. Accumulated soot or blocked ventilation for create a very dangerous situation. It is always better to be safe than sorry!
